Always be safe

Hi everyone today I'm going to be talking to you about a scenario that we got given. (Not true). There was a boy and his mum sent him on his bike into town to get something for her. On the way two bullies from school came up to him named Dean and Elliot. We had to chose four options to use, the consequences for them and what the best option would be. So here is mine.
I hope you enjoyed and let me know what you think would be the best option and if you have anymore options. Bye.

Create task

Hi everybody welcome back to my blog. Today I will be sharing with you one of my create tasks. For this create task we read a book called Don't sit if you want to keep fit. And then by looking at the front cover and some pictures in the book, we made four predictions and then we wrote comments next to them after we read the book to see if our predictions were right. So here are mine.

Thanks for coming back let me know if you have done predictions before. Bye.

Cook Island doughnuts

Hi everyone, still carrying on with our instructions with the same country we made a recipe with food from that country so I made Cook Island doughnuts, so here's the recipe.
Ingredients:

  • Ingredients:
    • 8 cups of plain flour, plus 2 cups extra for kneading
    • 3 cups of warm water
    • 2 1/2 tablespoons of active dry yeast (or 3 sachets)
    • 1 cup of warm milk
    • 2 cups of sugar
    • 1/3 cup of oil (or melted butter)
    • 3 eggs
    Method:
  1. Whisk the yeast and warm water in a medium bowl and set aside for five minutes.
  2. in a large mixing bowl, combine 8 cups of flour with the sugar, make a well. Whisk milk, oil & eggs into yeast mixture then pour into the flour/sugar bowl. Using your hand, mix the ingredients together, until the dough is smooth. The mixture will be quite sticky. Cover & leave to rise until doubled in size ( 1-1 ½ hours).
  3. Transfer dough onto floured bench, knead the dough, adding flour as you go until the dough begins to have had sufficient flour added that it is less sticky, and more manageable. Then break off 40 chunks of dough to make each doughnut. Knead each dough into a ball & set aside.
  4. Heat oil in a large pot. Test oil with a small piece of dough (should rise & brown lightly within seconds).
  5. To make donuts, pierce a hole in the middle of the dough with your finger, then slightly stretch it out or spin it around your finger to enlarge the hole to about 3cm, then carefully lower the donut into the hot oil, turning the donuts as you go. Fry for about 3 minutes or until golden brown & cooked through. Transfer onto a rack to drain and cool.
Thanks for looking at my blog and let me know if you have had these before, bye.

Top team

Hi everyone welcome back to my blog.
Today I'm going to be talking to you about top team, top team are a group of people that came to our school and ran really fun activities for us to do. All together including the Tumu hub (year 5 and 6) and Kaupeka (year 7 and 8). Two teams verse at every different stations. There were a lot of different activities like catapult, water activities, pattern activities and more. I will talk about a few of the activities, the first one my group started at was catapult. At catapult you put and little beanbags into a rubber catapult. There were two water activities one of them was when we all had small buckets and we had to pour the water in them behind us to the person behind us and they keep going back about 8 people until the bucket at the back. whoever had the most water in their bucket at the end wins. The pattern activities was a guessing game, you had to step on different squares one by one and the person there would tell you if you were on the right square or not and it had to be in 8 moves.
Thanks for reading today's blog I hope you enjoyed and let me know if you have ever done top team before. Until next time, bye.

Tough kids

Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog.
Today I'm going to be talking to you about tough kids on the 20th of November. Years 3 to 8 from St Francis Assisi school went to tough kids in South New Brighton. We ran 2.3 kilometres approximately and went through obstacles, over and under things. We went through the estuary twice and when we finished we went through a slip and slide while there were firemen spraying water at us with hoses from their fire trucks.

Thanks for reading my blog and let me know if you have done tough kids. Bye.

How to draw the Cook Island flag.

Hi everyone for my PBL I drew a country out of a hat and we had to write instructions about something to do with that country and I did the flag. So here it is.
How to draw the Cook island flag in three simple steps

Things you need:
  • An A4 white piece of paper
  • Red and a dark blue drawing tools
  • A normal pencil

Step 1:
With your pencil, sketch a circle of stars to the right of the paper.

Step 2:
With your pencil, sketch out the union jack in the top left corner, and colour it in with red. This is what the union jack should look like.

Step 3:
Fill in the background of the flag leaving white spaces for the union jack and white stars.

Thanks for having a look and let me know if you tried this out, bye.

PBL driving question.

Hi everyone,
Our PBL driving question for this term is, how can I celebrate who I am? A big part of this PBL is around culture. For this PBL we have been learning different instruments and we are going to be performing a music piece at the end of the term. We also did a shared lunch and wrote instructions for a country we picked out of a hat. I will talk about that more in my next blog but let me know if you do PBL, bye.

Camp reflection

Hi everyone welcome back to my blog, today I'm talking about camp. I will be talking about...
What I found challenging, what I learnt, what I enjoyed and what I'm grateful for.

What I found challenging:
At camp I didn't find many things challenging. It was mostly the high ropes, it was really fun but you were relying pretty much your life on three people, and it freaks me out. But that was about all I found challenging.

What I learnt:
At camp I learnt a lot of things. I learnt how to make a stretcher from two sticks and a tarp or two sticks and two rain jackets. I also learnt how to belay, belaying is in high ropes and what you do is you have to keep the rope tight for the people that are climbing on the obstacles. Another thing I learnt how to do was how to build a raft from six sticks, four large barrels and rope.

What I enjoyed:
At camp I enjoyed doing kayaking doubles. During the whole thing we didn't fall out, but at the end we got to stand up and paddle if we wanted, and we did but my buddy fell out and I accidentally paddled away from her. Then when she tried to get back up, she tipped the boat and I fell in. I also liked doing search and rescue because someone got to hide and we had to go find them with a radio and map. When we found them we had to carry them on a stretcher for a little bit.

What I am grateful for:
I am grateful for having all the parent help, teachers and instructors that helped us on camp. And I'm also grateful for all the opportunities we get. I am grateful for all the people that helped me on camp and grateful for the people I went with.

Thanks for reading my blog and let me know if you have ever been to this camp before.
Bye.
