Reading task

Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today I will be talking to you about being my reading task. I'm am sharing my K.W.L (know, wonder, learn) we did ours on a book called underground soldiers, it's about soldiers having to be underground during world war 2. S here's mine:
K
What do I know?
W
What do I wonder?
L
What have I learnt?
That if they would have had to carry the dirt that they dug out at least a km away from the tunnel.
--------------------------------------------------------------
If someone were to find there tunnel and throw a carbon monoxide bomb they would have to rush out of the tunnel but be killed.
--------------------------------------------------------------
The war lasted four years which meant they were in there for a long time.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Without vitamin D your skin could get damaged and really bad eyesight.
--------------------------------------------------------------
What is there mental health like?
----------------------
Were they ever caught or close to being caught?
----------------------
How long do they have to travel to drop the dirt?
----------------------
Where did they go toilet?
----------------------
Where did they get the wood to hold up the dirt?
----------------------
Why didn’t the wood stay up?
----------------------
They have to carry around a mouse to see if it would get drowsy so that they would know if there was carbon monoxide.
-----------------------------------------------------------
The war lasted four years.
-----------------------------------------------------------
They had to carry the dirt a long way because if they just left it then the soldiers would find where there tunnel is.
-----------------------------------------------------------
That they couldn’t leave the tunnel because they would most likely get killed.
-----------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for coming back and let me know if you've ever done something like this before, bye.

Tech

Hi everyone, today I'm going to be talking to you about tech. I am currently in food tech last term I was in wood works but next term I am going to be in plastics and my last class is going to be sewing. I made wraps, pizza towers, hot chicken salad roll, pasta and french toast of the top of my head. In cooking we have learnt how to clean properly and about germs and how to properly store food.
I hope you enjoyed today's blog and let me know if you do tech, Bye.

Speech

Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog, today I'm going to be talking to you about  my speech from a few weeks ago. We got to choose to base it on: sexism, racism, ableism and religious discrimination. I chose sexism so here's mine:

Did you know that one gender gets more attention even then the other even though they work at the same Job. Today I’m going to be talking about sexism. Pretty much what I’m trying to say is I want to talk to you about sexism and the way people show it, so let’s get to it.

Stereotyping, take a construction worker for instance or a pilot, they’re usually men right? Well that’s what people think at least Or like a nurse or ballerina maybe, you automatically think of  a man for a construction worker or a pilot and woman for a ballerina or nurse? That’s the thing, they can be a woman or a man’s job. Almost every job is unisex both women and men can work there, the people that just assume that is called stereotyping.

Sports, picture this, you’re sitting on the couch, flicking through the channels then you think, oh actually I want to watch rugby. So you change to that channel and you have two choices, to watch the all blacks or the black ferns, what one did you choose? The all blacks, right? You choose the all blacks over the black ferns when they both play the same sport, same rule book and the same country. The only difference is their gender. Did you know that one of the best rugby players in the world is actually a woman. Kendra Cocksedge has been awarded many awards, she was awarded the kelvin R tremain memorial player of the year and she beat All Blacks Richie Mo'unga, Brodie Retallick and Codie Taylor. What I am pretty much trying to say here is that girls should be on the same level as boys for anything and in this case, especially sports.

What strategies we can use to reduce it: Now I want to talk to you about how to we can reduce it and just some things to remember, first thing, if you see or hear someone sexist or even someone being discriminated, be an upstander not a bystander, a bystander is hearing or watching someone discriminating someone else or even just being rude and laughing a the person being discriminating. But an upstander is someone that says, actually say no that isn’t right, stop it. The next thing is that women’s rights are human rights, nobody should be treated differently because of their gender, through sports,

My point is just to be nice to each other even if the opposite person is the opposite gender, and if you do see someone being hurt be an upstander.

Thanks for tuning in let me know if you have ever done a speech on something like this before, see you next time, BYE.

P.B.L poetry slam

Hi everyone, welcome back to my blog. Today I will be talking to you about our PBL (project based learning. I am presenting with Charlotte and we are going to be doing a poetry slam on sexism.
Here it is if you wanted to have a look.
Charlotte: There was a 16 year old boy cooking in the kitchen.

Mereana: His father then came over and said “you’re such a girl, what will society think of you.”

Mereana: Why wasn’t he allowed to cook?

Charlotte: Because he’s a boy?

Mereana: This boy’s father was showing sexism saying that only girls are supposed to cook.

Charlotte: Clean.

Mereana: And more.

Charlotte: On this live right here right now are going to be talking to you about being rude to the opposite gender.

Charlotte: picture this, you’re sitting on the couch.

Mereana: flicking through the channels.

Charlotte: Then you think, actually I want to watch rugby.

Mereana: So you change to that channel and you have two choices.

Charlotte: To watch the all blacks.

Mereana: Or the black ferns.

Charlotte: What one did you choose?

Mereana: The all blacks, right?

Charlotte:You choose the all blacks over the black ferns when they both play the same sport,

Mereana: Same rule book and they both play for the same country.

Charlotte: The only difference is their gender.

Mereana: Did you know that one of the best rugby players in the world is actually a woman.

Charlotte: Kendra Cocksedge has been awarded many awards, she was awarded the kelvin R tremain memorial player of the year.

Mereana: What we are pretty much trying to say here.

Charlotte: Is that girls should be on the same level as boys for anything

Mereana: And in this case, especially sports.

Charlotte: Sexism in the work environment is also huge.

Mereana: So many people especially women are discriminated against for doing a “man’s job.

Charlotte: A woman can be a construction worker

Mereana: Or a man could be a ballerina.

Charlotte: One of the teachers at our school owns a plumbing company.

Mereana: And when she goes to people's houses they actually ask questions like.

Charlotte: Are you qualified or why are you here.

Mereana: This is sexism because people are that saying that women can’t be a plumber

Charlotte: Or a construction worker or do a “man’s job”

Mereana: But almost any job can be a woman’s or a man’s job.

Charlotte: We interviewed two people from our school.

Mereana: To see what they thought or what they have to say about sexism.

Charlotte: When boys or girls get treated differently because of their gender like how women aren’t getting charged for the construction course at ara.

Mereana: And the other person said:

Charlotte: I think that people should not be getting judged by their gender,
but the content of their character.

Charlotte: Who run the world, girls, is a very famous song by beyonce.

Mereana: But what people don’t know is the meaning behind it.

Charlotte: Which is to remind females about all the power

Mereana: And that we have and that males can not control anybody.

Mereana: another inspiring song that’s against sexism is salute by little mix.

Charlotte: This song is about women being able to fight for themselves.

Mereana: And that they don’t need men. But it’s also about letting everyone know that women are great fighters.

Charlotte: Bringing the idea that we need to stand and unite as women and be who we want to be.

Charlotte: And the last inspiring song we are going to talk about is you don't own me by Lesley Gore.

Mereana: You Don’t Own Me is about telling men that they can’t treat us like an object and put us on display like prized possessions.

Charlotte:It’s about letting men know that women can and will do whatever they want and be whoever they want to be.

I hope you enjoyed today's blog and let me know if you have ever been discriminated. Bye.
